Ok I'm bad

I didn't realize it had been two weeks. And to think the past two weeks haven't been as crazy as life is about to get over the next month.

For a total laugh here are two Youtube videos from my high school band way back in 1978. No sound but they are funny none the less.

and another one. Our band marched the same way the Stanford University badn marched.

Need to do some picture taking today so hopefully I'll post more.

Our weather has been really weird here lately. Saturday it was in the 80's today in the low 30's with rain and ice.
Because of this outside

we have this inside

Gotto love Texas weather it's supposed to be 70 by Thursday.

My word for 2009

STOP

Stop not exercising
Stop putting off things until later
Stop making excuses why I put things off and didn't get them done
Stop spending
Stop complaining about my weight and do something about it
Stop well you get the picture. I'm going to really try to make some positive changes and stopping the negatives is the first step

We'll see how I do I don't promise to be perfect but if I can stop one bad habit at a time it will be a huge accomplishment

Day 2 and it's Friday

Went back to work today for just the day. Not too bad work one day off two. Wish I could do that every day.

Thank you for the nice comments it's nice to know someone reads this thing.

Tomorrow is hair cut day so I'll post new pictures tomorrow. Today was last "offical" day out for break, yes I know she doesn't go back until Monday but as she put it "weekends we're always off". I think in some ways she's ready to go back. She's going to have to figure out how to get to sleep before 1am and wake up before noon though.

Sorry for the boring post but I promise tomorrow will have pictures

Happy 2009!!!!!!

Ok so it's been 2 months since I posted last. I've been bad but life's been busy.

K's played in 3 soccer tournaments.

Broke her finger in an indoor game

Had Thanksgiving quietly

Had Christmas (pictures to follow)

Started Basketball season and amazingly even with a broken finger plays well

Lots of time with friends

I'm not making resolutions but really plan on making some changes in my life.

1. Change the way I eat and return to WW

2. Start walking at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes

3. Stop spending money for "stuff"

4. Spend more family time

5. Learn to play Rockband (because I'm horrible LOL)

6. Be seen in pictures more often you'd think i didn't exist from all our pictures

I hope 2009 brings you all the best.

Oh Lord I have a teenager

Well she's only 12 but boy is she acting more and more like a teenager. When she's in her room the door is closed, usually texting multiple people at one time including her boyfirend Griffin.

Today I come home from running errands and her bathroom door is shut (she never shuts it unless some one is over), music is blaring in the bathroom and she's in the shower.

What happened to my little girl, my cute adorable cuddly little girl?

She's growing up so fast. No longer needs or wants any lights on in the house when she sleeps, thunder storms don't wake her and make her scared, and she has a life outside of me and her dad.

Guess this is a peek into the future, I'm guessing it only gets worse.

Election Day

Don't forget to vote today. No matter who you are voting for (even if I won't like your canidate ) Voting is something we so take for granted. This election is huge and has more people involved than we've seen in years.

Thankfully here in Texas we have early voting and I was able to vote last week.

Happy Halloween!!

Ok It's a day late but no one really reads this so no one will know. I took seven 12 yr olds out tot last night. 5 girls, 2 boys and yes one of those boys is K "boyfirend". He's a nice kid and I have to figure out how to get a picture of him. I was a nice mom last night and didn't insist on pictures of all the kids. Probably a good thing.

K was going to be a clown but for some reason decided nope she wasn't going to dress up as a clown and went as a soccer player instead. Not much of a stretch since she is but she looked cute anyway

They are so interesting at this age. Thinking they are so grown up but aren't. G was being dropped at our house by his parents. His mother insisted (thankfully) on talking to me, both kids were totally embarassed that she had to do that.

Lots of candy was gotten on their rounds and thankfully we were all home by 9pm.

Hope your Halloween was a great one.

Catching up

Ok I sure don't do so well with the day in the life. Last week was Red Ribbon week a week devoted to trying to help teach kids why they should stay off of drugs. They do it from K - 12 in our city. Each day they can dress up in a theme. One day it was Nerd Day. Here is K's nerd

More dissapointing Volleyball but K plays well and I'm constantly amazed at how strong and athletic she is. She sure doesn't get it from me.

Basketball starts up next and K of course wants to play. I'm sure she'll do well even though she's a tiny thing.

Next I'll post Halloween. So 2 posts in one day

Haunted Forest

Unfortunately no pictures but it was so much fun. Kaitlyn's soccer team had a get together and we all went to the Haunted Forest up the street. 12 screaming 12 and 13 yr old girls and 12 adults.

It was an awesome Haunted Forest and the weather was perfect. They broke us into 3 groups and the girls all freaked. People jumped out, chain saws came after them, and clown, two very scary clowns.

Can't wait for next year.

I promise the next post will have pictures. Hopefully done tomorrow.

Way Way far behind

WOw it's been over a month since I last posted. Didn't realize it had been so long.

We've been busy here between soccer and Volleyball, plus just normal life. I finally got volleyball pictures. Unfortunately her team isn't very good but she works really hard and loves playing.

Serving. My ss is slow on this but I love the feel of teh action.

I'm going to really try hard to post more. I'm also going to do a day in the life or actually a week in the life this week. I've gotten out of taking pictures on a daily basis and need to record normal life again. We'll see how I do.

Catch up and Who are you?

Ok long time no post. Life's been busy but what else is new. Labor day weekend K's soccer team played in a tournament and made it to the quarter finals. Not great but better than just the pool games. They played pretty well and held the team that won their division to only 1 goal. Not too bad.

School is going great for K. She's loving her teachers, homework is managable and she made the Volleyball team. We'll find out tomorrow if she made A, B or C team and then her first game is on Thursday.

One of K's electives is FBN which is the tv station for her school. They do a broadcast and learn how to work all the equipment each day. They produce a podcast and if I can find it I'll link it.

So now who are all of you who read this blog? I can figure out one or two of you but the rest I have no clue unless you leave a response. So just so I have a clue please leave a response just saying hi.

No pictures sorry I hope to have some by this weekend.

1st day of 7th grade and misc other stuff

Been awhile but life has been busy. Since K got back from CA she managed to spend every day of one week with her bff either at our house or their house. Enjoyed the last week of freedom before school started. That plus soccer has kept us busy.

Painted K room a nice beautiful restful shade of green. Actually two toned. We have some decorating to do and finding the right colors to match but she loves it. Much better than the floresent green that was in the room. Here's a picture right after we put the furniture back

K did not want me to take her picture today but I insisted. It's far from technically good but it's as good as I could get her to do. At least she smiled in this one.

Life is going to be busy this year. K is in athletics which means staying after school until 445pm, which means no bus home and we have to pick up. Then one day a week she has sectionals for symphonic band (top band at her school) so she has to be there before 8am. Then two nights a week of soccer practice and games will start the first weekend in Sept. Add youth at church on Sunday's not a lot of free time. We won't even talk about her being in all Pre AP classes which means more work from school.

K has a soccer tournament this weekend so I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures from then. Hopefully now that school has started I'll have more to update and things to say. I need to work on taking pictures daily so I have those to add too.

California Trip

Had a great quick trip to my parents for the weekend. Left Kaitlyn there with the family until Friday. Spent the weekend just having a relaxing time with family. Got to meet my wonderful new nephew. Only 2 months old, now is one of those times where i wish we lived closer.

Went to my 30th high school reunion while there. Very interesting seeing all the people I hung out with in high school. Memmories that others had that I don't remember but they knew I was there. Memories I had that others didn't. Glad I went.

Carolyn, Katya, Kaitlyn and I went to a SF Giants game. Rode on the train there and back. Of course the Giants won and we had great seats.

I'll try and post more pictures later. Blogger is limiting me to 5 pictures right now.

All about me right now

Update

Not much going on here other than soccer and normal life. K is loving playing with her new soccer team though it's much harder work than rec ball. We've played in two tournaments in the last two weeks of July. Can you say hot??!!! Here's one of K

I can't believe that summer (at least the part that is offically summer it will be hot until October) is almost over. School starts in 3 weeks. 7th grade WOW. I'm sure I'll have lots to update then.

K and I leave for CA next Sunday while John gets some quality alone time. I'll only be there a few days and K will stay for a week spending time with family. She's excited to do so and then fly home by herself.

I have a new appreciation for air conditioning since ours was out for a few days. I'm loving the cool air in the house. We're going to donate the air conditioner we purchased for the bedroom to an organization that helps people.

I'll try and get more pictures of just normal life to post this week. Posts without pictures can be boring.

Bad Blogger

I'd post but it's 99 out at 9pm and we have no air conditioning. I think it's about 99 in the house too. K is off at friends and John purchased an air conditioner for our bedroom window to get us until it's fixed.

I'll post more about soccer, heat, soccer, heat and oh yeah more soccer later this week

Day 3 of 4 of 4am wake ups

No pictures in this post because it's just too dark at 4am to take them. With joining the select soccer team she got the privilege of doing 4 days of conditioning at 5am in the morning. Getting up at 4am isn't pleasant for a 12 yr old.

She has done a great job of getting up but boy are those muscles hurting. She's done more crunches, drills, running the past 3 days than I think ever in her life. Ah the life of an athlete she better get used to it. :)

Today I got up and went with her and walked 4 miles. I'm hoping with twice a week soccer practice and water aerobics I should be able to exercise 4 times a week and jump start my weight loss.

This weekend we have our first soccer tournament with Liverpool. First game 9pm on Friday. Wish us luck

A week late 4th of July + soccer update

OK we went to the fireworks on the 3rd of July. Great show some year I have to remember my tripod so I can take actual pictures of it. Got one of Kaitlyn and her friend Logan.

Kaitlyn tried out for a select soccer team and made the team she wanted. She will now be playing for Liverpoolfcamerica 96 girls. The fun has begun with practices twice a week in the 100 degree heat. Next week she gets a week of conditioning at 5am in the morning until 630am then 2 nights of practice. Then we have our first tournament. It's a whole new world but she's happy. Once the new website is complete for her team I'll post a link to it.

Other than that it's been work, day camp for kaitlyn and soccer practice. Hopefully I'll have more to update early next week.

Our first TP event

Our house was TP'd last night. I'm impressed on how well it was done and how quiet they were. Never heard a thing. Still have no clue who is responsible but I'm guessing eventually it will be reveled. Kaitlyn was surprised and excited. Of course I took pictures of it and left it up until she returned from camp.

I'm sure this isn't the last time it will happen.

Last day of Camp

Kaitlyn had a blast at camp this week and definitely wants to return next year. Today was skills competion and for each group (there were 5 groups) there was 1, 2 and 3rd place winners. Kaitlyn won 3rd place for her group. Then they annoucned the MVP for the camp. One girl and one boy voted on by the coaches. Kaitlyn was choosen as MVP for the girls. We're so proud of her.
Kaitlyn and her coach at check out she received a glowing report.

Soccer Camp

After getting home from Bridgeport Camp Kaitlyn left the next day for 5 day long soccer camp at UNT. THey do scrimmages every evening and since it's only 25 minutes away we went up tonight to watch.

They broke the groups into teams by skill set. Somehow Kaitlyn was put with older girls and boys. I mean high school boys who are huge. Here are some pictures of her playing. You can see the differences after only a few days. Hopefully it will follow through when she plays this fall

We go pick her up tomorrow morning and get to watch some skill competition and then the awards. I'm ready for her to be home for a while. Thankfully it's a long weekend of nothing much going on.

She's 12!!! and camp

Here she is at 12. I can't believe she has grown up so much

Been a busy day. Kaitlyn has been at camp all week in Bridgeport. She and 11 of her friends all went and had a blast. Typical girl drama but thankfully nothing that prevented them from having fun
Inside their cabin

For her birthday we got her a trampoline. (we do have a net it's just not on yet. That will be on before she returns from soccer camp) SHe was very excited with it and jumped

Shaving Cream fights and BFF

Kaitlyn and her two BFF decided tonight to have a shaving cream fight. So like the "cool" mom I am I went and got them each a can of shaving cream (when did it start costing >1.50 I remember buying the cheap stuff for .59???)

Here the three of them are. Logan, Kaytlin and Kaitlyn love these girls.

Then they decided to add water to the mix.....to help clean themselves off? Nah just because it's fun

Happy Memorial Day

What a great weekend. For once no pictures at all. Didn't even take my camera anywhere.

Started out Friday leaving work early and shopping for just me. Hate buying clothes in size larger but had to get a few things. Then met friends for dinner. John left early Friday for his weekend at the Motorccyle Ralley in Longview TX.

Saturday K had softball practice where she hit great. Oh started on Thursday night with two great hits in softball. First time actually batting this season thanks to her broken thumb but the cast came off on Tuesday and she's doing great. Then she and I headed to the mall. Great deals and fun shopping. She and I then went out to dinner and then cuddled and watched Mad Money.

Sunday worked in the yard before it got to hot and K went to breakfast with her confirmation class. We then ran a couple errands and waited for John to get home. After he got home we headed to our friends neighborhood pool and bbq and hung out.

Today was another relaxing day going to make it hard to get up for work in the morning. Swam this afternoon and just hung out.

Hope everyone had a great day and remember the reason for the holiday. We think of all the soilders who lost their lives for our freedom.

Awards Ceremony

Today was 6th grade awards ceremony at school. Parents were invited if the child was receiving an award. Kaitlyn got an invitation but didn't know what she was getting an award for.

Turns out she received the award for Academic Achievement in Social Studies and made the Honor Roll. We are so proud of her.
